About
AMS
American
Monitoring Services executives and support personnel bring
together three core areas of expertise.
- Combined
30 years of experience as security and guard
service providers.
- More
than 12 years of knowledge in the areas of
telecommunications with working with
communication companies such as NYNEX(Verizon), Qwest,
and Covad Communications.
- 15
years of computer
networking.
Our
clients expect and receive immediate response to any need,
24 hours per day. With our clients, as well as the general
business community, we enjoy a solid and established
reputation as a quality provider of remote monitoring
services.
Our company is dedicated to growing with technology and
industry changes while maintaining, and improving where
necessary a favorable image within all business communities
where we provide service. AMS is the first company of its
kind to offer responsive virtual guard services over
high-speed Internet from a remote centralized command
center. Other monitoring companies typically monitor alarm
triggers or snapshot images and video clips of activity on
the premise, usually responding only after an incident has
occurred.
AMS monitors constant real-time streaming video at frame
rates up to 30 fps (frames per second) and responds to alarm
triggers such as perimeter and motion detection. Use of such
items are to enhance agent monitoring effectiveness. AMS
monitoring agents are interactive with the property they are
monitoring. Often, an agent has the ability to remotely
control lights, loudspeakers, two-way intercoms, and access
control from our command center, further enhancing our
deterrent factor.
At AMS, we make practical use of new technology. We
proactively research and test new equipment and software so
that we can provide effective consulting and create a cost
savings for our clients. In addition, AMS is leading the
industry in applying new integration systems to provide a
holistic security and facility management package.

At
AMS, we carefully select personnel for each monitoring
assignment from a large pool of qualified applicants. Our
Response Team members are dressed in clean, clearly marked
company uniforms consisting of a professional hard-look
white technician/guard shirt with blue or beige slacks and
matching shoes and belt.
AMS employs a diverse, well trained and certified monitoring
force. We realize that the quality of our service is rooted
in the quality of our monitoring staff and management;
therefore we take strict measures to screen for the very
best personnel that may specialize in certain types of
surveillance. In addition, our supervisors can effectively
manage and maintain high levels of employee performance
because we centralize all our monitoring activities.
Therefore, despite having 90% of our personnel based in one
location, we remotely monitor and manage properties in
numerous major U.S. cities.
The
AMS Training Program
We
evaluate each applicant for classification at one of three
(3) levels:
1)
Monitoring agent
2) Lead monitoring agent
3) Response team technician
We
tailor our training programs to each level and the specifics
of each client's needs. Our training meets or exceeds the
requirements of local municipalities.
All our personnel are instructed in all facets of
surveillance and loss prevention duties. Starting with the
basics of security, they are taken through the handling of
emergencies and other specialized topics as well as the
technical aspects of operating the equipment and monitoring
software. Some of the core training criteria includes Legal
Issues, Emergency Preparedness, Human & Public
Relations, Safety, and Communications.
Our personnel are tested and evaluated in each topic and
their performance is monitored by supervisory staff to
ensure that each is properly trained. Performance monitoring
and evaluation continue throughout their employment with
AMS.
The training of our new personnel is just one function of
their complex duties. Each of our supervisors must be
thoroughly familiar with each account within their region
before being advanced. Only then is he/she capable of
responding to assist the monitoring and field agents with
any problem they may have.
